Our Opp Shop (short for "Opportunity Shop") is a key element of our practice of Connectivity. As such it is a purposeful action that operates as a significant point of contact in our local community. It aims to build relationships between all those who are associated with it … as sellers or buyers.
A team of volunteers operate all aspects of the Opp Shop which provides very low cost clothing etc. to the local community, and has done so for over 30 years.
Over those years it has provided clothing beyond our local community to East Timor, Elcho Island, Arnhem land communities, Cowdie Ward etc.
There is always room on our team should you wish to volunteer and help spread the load.
The jobs involved are...
- emptying the 2 collection bins for Wednesday mornings;
- sorting through all donated items and preparing them in the sorting room at Church on Wednesday mornings;
- finish sorting and setting up the Opp Shop in the church on Friday mornings;
- selling items on Friday evenings from 4 00 to 630 p.m. and Saturday mornings between 9 and 12 and packing racks etc. away.
Use the Contact page here or stop by on Friday evening or Saturday morning to talk to one of the volunteer staff about how to get involved.
